ERNEST OFORI SARPONG

Position: Chairman

Profession: Business Executive

Ernest is an astute businessman of many years’ experience. Born some 48years ago and a proud product of Presbyterian Boys Secondary School (Presec) , has an amazing business career in the small and medium scale industry and an up and coming industrialist.
In the 1990s he formed the SARPONG VENTURES LTD, an import and trading business, worked very hard and in no time became very renown in the Central District of Accra. He set up the SPECIAL INVESTMENTS LTD which is a real estate and construction business and can boast of a significant number of estate houses and apartments in very strategic area of the city and numerous office complexes and shops.
Ernest, in conjunction with a very close friend of his, Dr Osei-Kwame (a.k.a Despite) formed the United 2 Co. Ltd which is a holding company for the U2 SALT LTD – a 600 acre salt mining company and a refinery at Winneba in the Central Region and co-partnered in setting up a television station by name UNITED TELEVISION (UTV Ltd) which is currently one of the leading TV stations in the country. Ernest Ofori-Sarpong, who has had the dream of becoming a big time industrialist, solely proceeded to form a mineral water company, SPECIAL ICE LTD which can currently boast of two factories in Accra and Kumasi. Special Ice has introduced carbonated soft drinks on the market which is fast becoming a reckoned product. In the very short life of Special Ice Ltd, the product won an unprecedented award as the best mineral water for 2013 and 2014, and is not resting in achieving greater laurels. Once again, in collaboration with his good partner, Ernest and his co-partner have recently set up a savings and loans company called BEST POINT SAVINGS AND LOANS CO. LTD for which he is the Board Chairman, with this savings and loans company which has already become a highly recognized financial institution. The Peristrofi World Honorary International Award Conference bestowed an Honorary Ambassador of Business Entrepreneur in West Africa. He has been conferred with a Doctorate Degree of Philosophy in Law from Barkley University in the United States of America for his contribution to the socio-economic development of Ghana. Ernest has also been awarded the Best Manufacturing Entrepreneur for 2013 by Entrepreneurs Foundation under the auspices of the Ministry of Trade and Industries. Dr. Ofori-Sarpong is a God fearing man and a good Christian brought up in the Presbyterian way. He is blessed with a pretty wife and three lovely children.

OSEI KWAME DESPITE

Position: Member

Profession: Business Executive

Dr. Osei-kwame, also known as Despite, is a level-headed businessman with a very good background in music production and knows the broadcasting industry like the back of his palm.

Osei-Kwame is the owner of the Despite Company Ltd which is a trading company and with subsidiaries in the media industry namely, PEACE FM which is the largest and the most poplular FM station in the country, OKAY FM station, NEAT FM both in Accra and HELLO FM station in Kumasi.
Dr. Osei-Kwame set-up NEAT FOODS LTD, which processes our local plantain, cocoyam, maize and palm fruits such as Neat Fufu, which is has become a preference to the traditional fufu. He also owns a manufacturing company ANTONA FOODS LTD, producing the ever popular THIS WAY chocolate drink and other flavours including the Motherlac cereal for children. Despite is a co-founder of a Salt mining company, U2 Salt, which is located at Winneba.

Dr. Osei-Kwame with his partner co-founded the United Television (UTV) which is leading TV station in the country.

He is the co-founder and Vice Chairman of Best Point Savings and Loans Ltd, a very renowned financial institution in the country. Dr. Osei-Kwame, a business connoisseur of no mean repute, his insight into creating job avenues for the jobless and relentless promotion of the Ghanaian Culture, has received numerous prestigious awards in the past which include a Honorary Doctorate Degree in Human Resource from Canterbury University, Honorary Ambassador of Business Entrepreneur in West Africa (Ambassador) and Honorary man of the moment, Ghana, West Africa. He has also been awarded with the Best Entrepreneur for Multimedia by Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana under the auspices of the Ministry of Trade and Industries in 2013. Despite is a strong and devoted Christian. He is blessed with a lovely wife and children.

Philip Odei Asare

Position: Acting Managing Director

Profession: Banker

Philip Odei Asare is a professional accountant (ICA-GH, 2001) with over twenty years’ experience in Commercial Banking, Investment Banking Regulations, and Financial Services industry.

He holds an MBA (2003) and BA (1994) degrees from the University of Ghana. Employed by FINCA Microfinance Holdings, Washington D.C, Philip was seconded to FINCA Zambia (a financial Services company) as CEO and later as the Acting CEO. Prior to FINCA Zambia, Philip was the Senior Vice President for Finance at The Royal Bank Limited, where he led the Bank’s financial management and Strategy function.

In a previous role, as a Group Head for Risk Management, Access Bank, Ghana, Philip led the risk management work-stream during the execution of the business combination / merger of Access Bank and Inter-Continental Bank Group, after the former had acquired the latter. Prior to the Risk Management Role, Philip also played the role of Group Head, Commercial and Consumer Banking for Access Bank, Ghana where he led the execution of the Bank’s Commercial and Consumer banking strategy.

Before joining Access Bank Ghana in 2010, Philip played the role of Acting Chief Executive Officer for Opportunity International Savings & Loans Limited (OISL). Prior to the role of CEO, Philip was the Chief Financial Officer and Deputy CEO of OISL. He also worked for the Banking Supervision Department of the Bank of Ghana for 8 years during which period he undertook several assignments relating to bank examination and reviews.

KWADWO DANSO-DOODO

Position: Member

Profession: Accountant/Management Consultant

Kwadwo is a Management Consultant with expertise in startup businesses. He is the Project Director for Special Ice Ltd. Before joining Special Ice Ltd, he worked as the Managing Director of Sun Ridge Ltd, producers of Safina Mineral Water from inception of the Company, the Managing Director of Aqua-In Ltd, and also the Finance Director of Voltic (GH) Ltd for 4years. He has held various positions in other businesses.

Kwadwo is a Chartered Accountant by profession and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Ghana). He also holds a Masters in Business Administration in Finance from the University of Ghana (Legon). He attened Adisadel College.

He is a very strong and devoted Christian and is married and has four children.

ISAAC EMMIL OSEI-BONSU

Position: Member

Profession: Lawyer

Isaac Emmil Osei-Bonsu Jnr. is a seasoned legal practitioner with almost 20 years' experience in Ghana. He attended the prestigious Achimota Secondary School between 1982 -1989 where he completed his O'level and A'levels successfully.

Isaac entered the University of Ghana, Legon in 1991 to read Law, Philosophy and Political Science. He graduated in Law with Honors in 1994 and subsequently enrolled at the Ghana Law School for the two-year professional law course which he successfully completed in 1996. He was thereafter called to the Bar.

In 1997, he joined Minkah-Premo & Co, one of the leading law firms in the country as an Associate. He rose to become the youngest partner of the firm in 2001 due to his exceptional legal and business acumen, with oversight responsibility in the practice areas of Corporate and Compliance, Property, Credit and Debt Recovery.

He holds an Executive Masters Degree in Business Administration and currently serves as a Director for several companies such as Inspection & Control Services, Black Star Advisors and Vanguard Properties Development Limited amongst others.

Isaac is also a traditional leader and the Ahenenanahene of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area. He is married to Lynn Osei-Bonsu (née Ziniel), a Communications Consultant and they have two wonderful children. Isaac is an avid golfer.

DANIEL ASARE-MINTAH

Position: Member

Profession: Banker/Lawyer

He worked for twenty-six (26) years in the Bank of Ghana and rose to become an Assistant Director in the Banking Supervision Department of the Central Bank. He trained primarily as an Economist and obtained a BA (Honors) Degree in Economics awarded by the University of Cape Coast, Ghana in 1981.

He pursued various academic courses while in the Bank’s employment including a one year program in Banking and Economics as a Fulbright Scholar at Boston University in Massachusetts, USA between 1993 and 1994.

In 1997, he enrolled in the Ghana Law School to pursue a four-year course in Law. He was awarded in 2001 the Qualifying Certificate of the General Legal Council of Ghana and the Certificate of Enrollment on the Roll of Lawyers in the Republic of Ghana having qualified as Barrister and Solicitor.

Between 2001 and 2008, he was made Coordinator of the Rural Financial Services Project (RFSP), a World Bank Financial Sector Project aimed at improving the operational efficiencies of Rural Banks and Microfinance Institutions in Ghana.

Currently, he is a Consultant and a Senior Partner in Obuor Mintah & Co., a Legal Firm in Accra.

Pilip Odei Asare

Position: Managing Director

JAMES OKRAH

Position: Head of Finance and Administration

James had his First Degree in Commerce from the University of Cape Cost in 1998 after which he worked as a teacher and later joined Baduman Rural Bank Limited in the year 2000 as an Assistant Accountant.

In 2003 he persued Masters in Business Administration-Finance at the University of Linclon-UK and graduated in 2005. He is also a Chartered Accountant and an Assosiate of Association of Certified Chartered Accountants.

In June 2009, James joined United Bank for Africa (UBA). He worked there as Control Officer and was the Head of Domestic Operations and Clearing Departments until he left in October 2013 to join Best Point Savings and Loans Limited in the same year.

MARTEY AGO-MENSAH

Position: Head of Audit

Martey's audit career began with Morrison and Associates, a firm of Chartered Accountants in April 2004. He then left to pursue his career with the then Amalgamated Bank Ltd now Bank Of Africa in 2006. He played various roles such as Resident Internal Control Officer where he set up internal control systems in new branches opened by the Bank and also helped in strengthening existing internal controls.

He also worked with the Operational Risk Unit briefly and then to the Internal Audit Department where he was a Senior Internal Auditor and team leader just before he joined Best Point Savings and Loans Ltd in October 2013.

He holds an EMBA from KNUST and is also a final part student of the Institute Of Chartered Accountants Ghana.

MRS. GIFTY OSSEI BOATING

Position: Head of Credit and Marketing

Mrs. Gifty Ossei Boating received her Bachelor's Degree in Administration (Banking and Finance) from the University Of Ghana Business School and her MBA in Finance from Methodist University College Ghana.

She has eight (8) years working experience in the Savings and Loans Industry, five of which have been at Middle Management Level. She has experience in Credit Management, Asset and Liability Portfolio Management, Relationship and Account Management.

Gifty began her carrier as a Credit Officer and rose gradually to become Client Relationship Manager, Branch Manager, and Credit Risk Manager.

At the beginning of her career, she worked with Procredit Savings and Loans Company and then joined Express Savings and Loans from its inception until September, 2013 when she joined Best Point Savings and Loans Ltd as the Head of Credit and Marketing.

ISAAC BAFFOUR AWUAH

Position: Head of Banking Operations

Isaac Baffour Awuah is a holder of BBA (Accounting) from Valley View University and an MBA Finance Management from Kazian Global School of Business Management, India. He also holds ICA (Ghana) Part Two.

He has over nine years banking experience with former Ghana Cooperative Bank Ltd, and First National Savings and Loans Co. Ltd, Accra. He joined First National in 2007 as Branch Manager for Tema and rose to become Head of Accounts. He also played various other roles as Head of Internal Audit, and Risk Manager until he left them in September 2013 to join Best Point Savings and Loans Ltd.

He also has seven and a half years working experience in multinational companies: four and a half years in Cadbury Ghana Ltd where he became an Accounts Manager, two years with Barry Callebaut Ghana Ltd, and a year with Gold Fields Ghana Ltd as a Financial Accountant.

Isaac has good knowledge and skills in budgeting, target setting, auditing and banking operations etc.

KWADWO ASAE ASANTE

Position: Head of IT and E-Banking

Kwadwo Asare-Asante is a product of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and holds a BSc in Computer Science. He also holds Executive Certificate in Business Administration from the Graduate School of Governance and Leadership (GSGL) and an International Diploma, Business Management/Administration from Cambridge International College, Jersey, Britain.

He started work in the banking industry in 2004 as an Executive Trainee with the Standard Trust Bank (now UBA Ghana). He grew through the ranks and with commitment and hard work became the Head of Network and Infrastructure in 2007. He was further promoted to the position of Head of IT Operations in 2009 due to his competence and ability, a position he held until 2013 when he moved to Best Point Savings and Loans Ltd.

He was a Member of the Risk Management Committee, Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Committee and the IT Steering Committee of UBA Ghana Limited.

He has attended a number of courses and workshops in diverse fields in IT and banking including Data Communication and Networking, Ethical Hacking, Certified Information Security Professional, Banking Operations, Customer Service etc.

From his working life in the banking industry, he has developed excellent skills for IT management and deployment as he was influential in the setup of all the branch network of UBA Ghana.

MILLICENT ODOI

Position: Legal Officer / Company Secretary

Miss Millicent Odoi is a young dedicated Lawyer with three years’ experience as a legal practitioner. She pursed her first degree in BA Psychology at the University of Ghana, Legon from August 2003 to May 2007. She also holds an LLB (Bachelor of Laws) from University of Ghana,Legon. In October 2010, she enrolled at the Ghana School of Law and was called to the BAR in October 2012. She worked as an intern with Kwame Gyan & Associates between 2010 and 2012. After being called to the BAR, she did her pupillage with Zoe,Akyea & Co., a renowned and established law firm in Ghana and also worked as an Associate with the same firm until May 2015. She joined Best Point Savings and Loan Ltd as the Legal Officer/Company Secretary in May 2015.

JACOB IDAN

Position: Marketing Manager

Jacob holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and an Executive Master’s Degree in Business Administration, (EMBA), (Marketing Option), from the University of Ghana Business School, Legon.

He joined Best Point Savings and Loans (Best Point) in October 2014 as a Branch Manager. However on January 28th 2015 he was reassigned to head the Marketing Unit of the Company.

Before joining Best Point, Jacob worked as the Group Head of Marketing of COB-A Industries Limited, producers of Standard Mineral Water from May 2009 to December 2011.

Between October 2006 to February 2009, he worked with United Bank for Africa (UBA) in various positions and became the Manager of the Spintex Road Branch in December 2008.

He also worked with Total Ghana Limited for about seven years (2000 - 2006) as a Manager and a Dealer.

Jacob has extensive experience in marketing and banking operations.
